Cutlery Sharpening

At the Sharpening Shack, we can service all of your cutlery.

Special care is taken with your high-end, premium Asian, European and American cutlery. Your cutlery sharpening needs are achieved through the use of a unique knife sharpening process that assures your knives a sharp, accurate edge that will meet or exceed the original manufactures specifications.

We sharpen cutlery knives 4 different ways, "Depending on the knife type and condition":

1. We can hand sharpen using a traditional sharpening natural bench-stone

2. We can hand sharpen using a diamond or stone angle-edging tool

3. We can machine sharpen using a low-RPM stone grinding wheel

4. We can machine sharpen using a sanding belt

5. We can machine sharpen using a high-RPM paper wheel

6. We can machine sharpen using a 2 or 3 stage diamond stone system

Why so many choices? We we strive to remove as little metal as possible off of the blade, based upon the condition of the blade edge. Many times a simple hand sharpening and honing will do the trick. Other times we have to grind with machines to achieve the proper 15 or 20 degree edge to bring a knife back to specifications.

The cost is the same no matter what knife sharpening system we use. By offering 4 different ways to sharpen your kitchen knives and cutlery, you can be assured you will receive a razor-sharp, long lasting edge that should last with regular honing.

We sharpen all high-end cutlery by hand to assure we get that perfect edge without removing large amounts of metal or chance damaging the blade with a machine......

(Note: we do not sharpen TV knife sets that have micro or double sided serrations. These knives do not allow for sharpening because the knives where never intended to be sharpened (Ginsu Knives for example are double serrated knives that are not meant to be sharpened))

Diagram "C" below is a micro-serration, we cannot sharpen these type of knives.
